The Entry of our Most Holy Lady the Theotokos into the Temple.
The Entry of the Theotokos into the Temple, kept on November 21, commemorates the day the child Mary, at the age of three, was brought by her parents Joachim and Anna to the Temple in Jerusalem in fulfillment of their vow. According to tradition she was received by the priest Zacharias and dwelt in the Temple, nourished in prayer and prepared to become the living temple of God.
The feast celebrates the dedication of the Mother of God wholly to the Lord from childhood. Falling near the beginning of the Nativity Fast, it points ahead to the mystery of the Incarnation.

On the New Calendar, Entry of the Theotokos into the Temple is commemorated on November 21. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on December 4 of the civil calendar.
