Eudokia (Ia) of Persia

Holy Martyr Eudokia, also called Ia, who suffered in Persia.

Saint Eudokia, known also as Ia, was a Christian woman taken captive in Persia in the fourth century. Tradition relates that she converted many Persian women to Christ and was tortured and put to death for her faith.

Her relics were later brought to Constantinople, and the translation of her relics is remembered on this day.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Eudokia (Ia) of Persia is commemorated on August 4. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on August 17 of the civil calendar.
