George, Bishop of Nicomedia, hymnographer.
George was a cleric of the Great Church of Constantinople in the ninth century and a friend of St. Photios, and was later made Bishop of Nicomedia. He is remembered as a composer of canons and hymns still sung in the services of the Church, and reposed in peace.

On the New Calendar, George of Nicomedia is commemorated on December 29. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on January 11 of the civil calendar.
