Hesperos and Zoe with their sons Kyriakos and Theodoulos

Holy Martyrs Hesperos, Zoe and their children Kyriakos and Theodoulos, a Christian slave family martyred at Attalia.

Hesperos and Zoe were Christian slaves of a pagan master in Attalia of Pamphylia in the second century, and raised their two sons Kyriakos and Theodoulos in the faith. When the family refused to eat food offered to idols, the master had them tortured.

All four remained firm and were finally cast into a heated furnace, where they gave up their souls. Zoe is one of the most loved women's names in the Greek calendar, and her name-day is kept on this feast.

On the New Calendar, Hesperos and Zoe with their sons Kyriakos and Theodoulos is commemorated on May 2. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on May 15 of the civil calendar.
