Sadok and the 128 Martyrs

Hieromartyr Sadok, Bishop of Persia, and the 128 Martyrs with him.

St. Sadok succeeded the hieromartyr Symeon as bishop in Persia during the persecution of King Shapur II. Tradition relates that he was warned of his coming martyrdom in a dream by his predecessor.

Arrested with 128 of his clergy and faithful, he refused to worship the sun and was beheaded with them in the fourth century.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Sadok and the 128 Martyrs is commemorated on February 20. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on March 5 (a day earlier in leap years) of the civil calendar.
