Righteous Basil the Macedonian, Emperor of the Romans.
Basil I rose from humble origins in Macedonia to become emperor in 867 and founded the Macedonian dynasty. The Greek synaxaria remember him for his building of churches, his legal reforms and his care for the Church.
He reposed in 886.
