John, Moses, Antiochos and Antoninos

Venerable John, Moses, Antiochos and Antoninos, ascetics of the Syrian desert.

These fifth-century ascetics of Syria are described by Theodoret of Cyrrhus. John lived for twenty-five years on a hillside in the open, eating bread and salt; Moses, Antiochos and Antoninos followed similar lives of extreme self-denial.

All reposed in peace, honoured among the great ascetics of the Syrian desert.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, John, Moses, Antiochos and Antoninos is commemorated on February 23. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on March 8 (a day earlier in leap years) of the civil calendar.
