Julitta of Caesarea

Holy Martyr Julitta of Caesarea in Cappadocia.

St. Julitta was a wealthy Christian widow of Caesarea in Cappadocia whose property was seized by a pagan. When she sought justice, she was told to renounce Christ; she refused and was condemned to the fire.

St. Basil the Great preached a homily in her honor, praising her courage.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Julitta of Caesarea is commemorated on July 30. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on August 12 of the civil calendar.
