Marcellinus and Peter of Rome

Holy Martyrs Marcellinus the priest and Peter the exorcist, beheaded at Rome under Diocletian.

Saints Marcellinus, a priest, and Peter, an exorcist, were imprisoned at Rome during the persecution of Diocletian. Tradition relates that they converted their jailer and his household while in prison. They were led out to a wood and beheaded there in secret, and were later greatly honoured in Rome.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Marcellinus and Peter of Rome is commemorated on June 2. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on June 15 of the civil calendar.
