Paraskeva of Sarov and Diveyevo

Blessed Paraskeva, called Pasha of Sarov, fool for Christ of Diveyevo.

Blessed Paraskeva was born a serf in the early nineteenth century and, after years of hardship, took up the life of a fool for Christ in the forests of Sarov, later living at the Diveyevo convent founded by St. Seraphim. She was known throughout Russia for her clairvoyance, and the emperor Nicholas II visited her at the glorification of St. Seraphim in 1903.

She reposed in 1915 and is commemorated on September 22.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Paraskeva of Sarov and Diveyevo is commemorated on September 22. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on October 5 of the civil calendar.
