Righteous Phineas, grandson of Aaron, priest of the Old Covenant.
The righteous Phineas was the son of Eleazar and grandson of Aaron the high priest, whose story is told in the Book of Numbers. His zeal for the law of God in the wilderness turned away the wrath of the Lord from Israel, and God gave him and his descendants the covenant of an everlasting priesthood.
He served as high priest after his father, and the Church keeps his memory on March 12.

On the New Calendar, Phineas the Righteous is commemorated on March 12. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on March 25 of the civil calendar.
