  Eudokimos the Righteous

  Venerable, Ευδόκιμος

  St. Eudokimos the Righteous was born in Cappadocia in the ninth century to devout parents. Serving as an officer in the imperial service, he lived in the midst of the world a life of hidden holiness, guarding purity, giving alms generously to the poor and to widows and orphans, and avoiding all display, with a special reverence for the Theotokos.

• Joseph of Arimathea

  Righteous Joseph of Arimathea was a member of the Sanhedrin and a secret disciple of Christ who boldly asked Pilate for the Lord's body, wrapped it in linen and laid it in his own new tomb. He is commemorated in the hymns of Holy Saturday and the Myrrhbearers.

  This New Martyr was a young Cretan whose name has not been preserved. Tradition relates that, having been forced into apostasy, he repented and confessed Christ before the authorities in Alexandria of Egypt.
