  Cyriac the Hermit

  Venerable, Κυριακός

  St. Cyriacus the Hermit was a Palestinian ascetic of the fifth and sixth centuries. Coming to the Holy Land as a young man, he passed his long life in the desert of Judea in the communities founded by the great desert fathers, advancing ever deeper into solitude, fasting, and unceasing prayer, and attaining great old age.

• Malachi the New Martyr of Rhodes

  Martyr, Μαλαχίας ο Νέος

  St. Malachi was born at Lindos on Rhodes and became a monk in Jerusalem, where he served the Holy Sepulchre. Tradition relates that he was accused before the Turkish authorities of insulting Islam and, refusing to convert, was tortured and put to death in 1500.

• Petronia the Martyr

  Holy Woman, Πετρωνία

  St. Petronia was a Christian woman who confessed Christ in the time of the persecutions and was beheaded for the faith.

• Gobdelaas, Dadas, Kasdoos and Kasdoa

  Martyr, Γοβδελαάς, Δάδας, Κάσδοος και Κασδόα

  St. Dadas was a kinsman of the Persian king Shapur and governor of a province who was found to be a Christian and handed over to torture. Tradition relates that the king's own son Gobdelaas, sent to preside at the trial, was converted by the miracles he witnessed, as was his sister Kasdoa, and that they suffered with Dadas and Kasdoos.

• Theophanes the Merciful of Gaza

  Venerable, Θεοφάνης ο Φιλεύσπλαγχνος

  St. Theophanes was a Christian of Gaza who spent all he had on the poor, the sick and strangers, until he fell into poverty himself and bore illness with patience. Tradition relates that after his death a healing myrrh flowed from his tomb.

• Three New Martyrs of Vrachori

  Martyr, Νεομάρτυρες Βραχωρίου

  The Church of Aetolia keeps the memory of three Christians of Vrachori, the present Agrinio, who were put to death by the Ottomans for refusing to deny Christ. Their names are not preserved in the Synaxarion.
