Proclos of Constantinople
November 20, Hierarch, Πρόκλος
St. Proclos was a disciple of St. John Chrysostom and served as Patriarch of Constantinople in the fifth century. A gentle and eloquent shepherd, he taught the faith with clarity, honored the Theotokos in his celebrated homilies, and brought the relics of his teacher Chrysostom back to Constantinople with great solemnity, healing an old wound in the Church.

Proclus the Martyr

The holy martyrs Proclus and Hilarius suffered for Christ in the early centuries of the Church, during the Roman persecutions. Tradition relates that Proclus was seized first and endured torture with steadfastness, and that his witness moved his kinsman Hilarius to confess Christ openly; both were put to death for the faith.
