Alexander and the 30 Martyrs

Holy Martyrs Mark the shepherd, Alexander, Alphaeus, Zosimas and the thirty martyrs of Pisidia and Phrygia.

In the persecution of Diocletian, Mark, a shepherd of Antioch in Pisidia, was seized for his faith; tradition relates that the brothers Alexander, Alphaeus and Zosimas, ordered to forge instruments of torture for him, were converted and suffered with him, together with Nikon, Neon, Heliodoros and many others.

They are commemorated together on September 28.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Alexander and the 30 Martyrs is commemorated on September 28. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on October 11 of the civil calendar.
