Alexander of Prusa

Hieromartyr Alexander, Bishop of Prusa in Bithynia, beheaded for Christ.

Saint Alexander was bishop of Prusa in Bithynia. Tradition relates that he was arrested during the persecutions for confessing Christ, endured torture and was beheaded, receiving the crown of martyrdom.

On the New Calendar, Alexander of Prusa is commemorated on June 9. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on June 22 of the civil calendar.
