Great Martyr Anastasia the Deliverer from Potions.
The great martyr Anastasia was a Roman Christian of noble birth who suffered under the persecution of Diocletian at the turn of the fourth century. She devoted her wealth and freedom to visiting imprisoned Christians, tending their wounds and strengthening them for their contest, until she herself was seized and, after many trials, put to death.
She is called Pharmakolytria, Deliverer from Potions, for the faithful seek her protection against poisons, spells, and every harmful thing. She is commemorated on December 22.
