Anna the Monk-Martyr

Holy Monk-Martyr Anna, who suffered under the iconoclasts.

Saint Anna was a nun in Constantinople who, according to tradition, was accused of association with Saint Stephen the New during the iconoclast persecution of Constantine Copronymus.

She was beaten to death for refusing to speak against him and the holy icons.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Anna the Monk-Martyr is commemorated on November 28. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on December 11 of the civil calendar.
