Aristoboulos the Apostle

Holy Apostle Aristoboulos of the Seventy, Bishop of Britain.

St. Aristoboulos was one of the Seventy Apostles, greeted by St. Paul in the Epistle to the Romans and, according to tradition, the brother of St. Barnabas. He accompanied St. Paul in his travels and was sent to preach the Gospel in Britain, where he is honored as its first bishop.

Tradition relates that he suffered much from the pagans but established the Church there before reposing in peace. His memory is kept on March 15 and on October 31.

On the New Calendar, Aristoboulos the Apostle is commemorated on March 15. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on March 28 of the civil calendar.
