Constantine of Murom with his sons Michael and Theodore

Holy Princes Constantine, Michael and Theodore of Murom, enlighteners of that region.

Constantine was a prince of Kievan Rus who in the twelfth century was sent to rule Murom, then still largely pagan. His son Michael was killed by the pagans, and tradition relates that his patience and the wonders of an icon of the Theotokos won the people to baptism.

He reposed in 1129 with his sons and is honored with them on the feast of his namesake, Constantine the Great.

On the New Calendar, Constantine of Murom with his sons Michael and Theodore is commemorated on May 21. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on June 3 of the civil calendar.
