Dionysios the Rhetor and Metrophanes

Venerable Dionysios the Rhetor and his disciple Metrophanes of the Skete of St. Anne.

St. Dionysios the Rhetor was a learned monk of Mount Athos who settled in the Little Skete of St. Anne in the early seventeenth century. His disciple Metrophanes, a spiritual father, labored with him in asceticism.

Both reposed in peace and are honored among the saints of the Holy Mountain.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Dionysios the Rhetor and Metrophanes is commemorated on July 9. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on July 22 of the civil calendar.
