  Pancratius of Tauromenion

  Hierarch, Παγκράτιος

  St. Pancratius was, according to tradition, a disciple of the apostles who was sent to Sicily and became the first bishop of Tauromenium, present-day Taormina. There he preached the Gospel, overturned the worship of idols, and gathered a flock for Christ in the earliest days of the Church.

  St. Michael Paknanas was a young gardener of Athens who was falsely accused and pressured to convert to Islam. He refused steadfastly, answering that he would not deny his faith.

  St. Dionysios the Rhetor was a learned monk of Mount Athos who settled in the Little Skete of St. Anne in the early seventeenth century. His disciple Metrophanes, a spiritual father, labored with him in asceticism.

• Photios of Akapniou

  Venerable, Φώτιος Ακαπνίου

  St. Photios was an ascetic who founded the Monastery of Akapniou in Thessaloniki. Tradition relates that he lived in the tenth or eleventh century and was known for his holiness and spiritual guidance.

  Sts. Andrew and Probos are commemorated as martyrs who confessed Christ during the persecutions. Tradition relates that they were burned for their faith.
