Holy Martyrs Elias, Probus and Ares, Egyptians who suffered at Ascalon.

The holy martyrs Elias, Probus and Ares were Egyptian Christians who were arrested on their way to visit the confessors in Cilicia. Brought before the governor at Ascalon, they confessed Christ and were put to death in the early fourth century.

On the New Calendar, Elias, Probus and Ares is commemorated on December 19. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on January 1 of the civil calendar.
