Gregentios of Ethiopia

Gregentios, Bishop of the Himyarites in Arabia and Ethiopia.

Gregentios was a bishop of the sixth century sent to the land of the Himyarites in southern Arabia after the martyrdom of the Christians of Najran. Tradition relates that he restored the churches, gave laws to the Christian kingdom, and held a famous disputation with the Jew Herban. He reposed in peace.

On the New Calendar, Gregentios of Ethiopia is commemorated on December 19. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on January 1 of the civil calendar.
