Euphemia the All-Praised (2nd)

Holy Great Martyr Euphemia the All-Praised of Chalcedon.

St. Euphemia the All-Praised was a virgin of Chalcedon who suffered martyrdom during the persecution under Diocletian at the beginning of the fourth century. Refusing to join in pagan sacrifice, she endured many tortures and committed her soul to God, receiving the crown of martyrdom in her native city.

A century and a half later, the Fourth Ecumenical Council met at Chalcedon beside her relics, and the Church honors her as a seal and confirmation of the Orthodox confession. Her chief feast is kept on September 16.
