Eustratios the Wonderworker

Venerable Eustratios, abbot of the Augaros Monastery in Bithynia.

St. Eustratios was born in Bithynia and became a monk at the Augaros Monastery on Mount Olympus in the ninth century. He suffered exile during the iconoclast persecution and later governed his monastery for many years, receiving the gift of miracles.

He reposed in peace at a great age and is commemorated on January 9.

On the New Calendar, Eustratios the Wonderworker is commemorated on January 9. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on January 22 of the civil calendar.
