Hanani the Prophet

Holy Prophet Hanani, the seer who rebuked King Asa.

The prophet Hanani appears in the Old Testament as a seer in the days of King Asa of Judah. Because he rebuked the king for relying on the king of Syria rather than on the Lord, he was put in prison, as the Second Book of Chronicles relates.

The Church keeps his memory on March 27.

On the New Calendar, Hanani the Prophet is commemorated on March 27. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on April 9 of the civil calendar.
