Philetos and Lydia

Holy Martyrs Philetos the Senator, his wife Lydia, their sons Theoprepios and Makedon, and companions.

St. Philetos was a senator of Rome who, with his wife Lydia and their sons Theoprepios and Makedon, suffered under the emperor Hadrian. Tradition relates that they were sent to Illyria, where the governor Amphilochios, converted by their steadfastness, was martyred with them, together with the jailer Kronides.

They were cast into boiling oil but were preserved unharmed, and reposed in the Lord soon after. The Church keeps their memory on March 27.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Philetos and Lydia is commemorated on March 27. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on April 9 of the civil calendar.
