Holy Virgin Martyr Iphigenia of Ethiopia, converted by the Apostle Matthew.
Tradition relates that Iphigenia was a princess of Ethiopia who was healed and baptized by the Apostle Matthew and dedicated herself to Christ as a virgin, gathering other maidens around her.
When a later king sought to marry her she refused, and she is honoured as a virgin martyr, commemorated with the Apostle and Evangelist Matthew.
