Lambros the New Martyr of Samothrace

New Martyr Lambros of Samothrace, who suffered under the Ottomans.

St. Lambros was one of the New Martyrs of Samothrace who confessed Christ before the Ottoman authorities in the nineteenth century. Tradition relates that he was put to death for refusing to deny his faith.

He is honored on the island of Samothrace together with the other New Martyrs who shared his confession.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Lambros the New Martyr of Samothrace is commemorated on July 2. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on July 15 of the civil calendar.
