Mark of Apollonias

Hieromartyr Mark, Bishop of Apollonias, who suffered for Christ.

Saint Mark was bishop of Apollonias and, tradition relates, was arrested for his confession of Christ, tortured and put to death, receiving the crown of martyrdom as a hierarch.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Mark of Apollonias is commemorated on June 16. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on June 29 of the civil calendar.
