Venerable Methodia of Kimolos, the recluse and spiritual mother of the Cyclades.
Methodia was born on the island of Kimolos in 1865 and was married as a young woman. When her husband was lost at sea, she took the monastic habit and enclosed herself in a cell beside the church of the Panagia, living in fasting, vigil and prayer.
Islanders came to her for counsel and healing, and she became a spiritual mother to many. She reposed in 1908 and was glorified by the Ecumenical Patriarchate in 1962.

On the New Calendar, Methodia of Kimolos is commemorated on October 5. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on October 18 of the civil calendar.
