Venerable Nektarios of Bitola, ascetic of Karyes on Mount Athos.
Venerable Nektarios was born in Bitola and came to the Holy Mountain, where he lived in obedience to the elder Philotheos at a cell in Karyes. He was known for his humility and unceasing prayer, and reposed in peace around the year 1500; his relics are venerated on Athos.
Feast day
On the New Calendar, Nektarios the Athonite is commemorated on December 5. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on December 18 of the civil calendar.
