Parthenios of Chios

Venerable Parthenios of Chios, founder of the Monastery of Panagia Voithia.

Venerable Parthenios was a monk of Chios in the nineteenth century, a hymnographer and iconographer who founded the monastery of Panagia Voithia near the town of Chios. He reposed in peace in 1883 and is honoured by the faithful of the island.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Parthenios of Chios is commemorated on December 8. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on December 21 of the civil calendar.
