Holy Martyrs Speratos and Veronica, of the Scillitan martyrs of North Africa.
Sts. Speratos and Veronica are numbered among the Scillitan Martyrs, Christians of North Africa who were tried at Carthage in the second century and refused to swear by the emperor. Their trial is one of the earliest recorded acts of the martyrs.
They were beheaded for their confession of Christ.
Feast day
On the New Calendar, Speratos and Veronica is commemorated on July 17. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on July 30 of the civil calendar.
