Thyrsos and companions

Holy Martyrs Thyrsus, Leucius, and Callinicus.

The holy martyrs Thyrsos, Leucius, and Callinicus suffered for Christ in Asia Minor in the third century, during the Roman persecutions. Refusing to offer sacrifice to the idols, they endured torments with steadfast faith and were put to death, their endurance drawing others to confess Christ.

The synaxaria preserve little beyond their faithful witness, which the Church holds in honor among the martyrs of that age. They are commemorated on December 14.

On the New Calendar, Thyrsos and companions is commemorated on December 14. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on December 27 of the civil calendar.
