• Julian of Tarsus

  Martyr, Ιουλιανός ο Ταρσεύς

  Saint Julian was a young man of Tarsus in Cilicia, of a senatorial family, who was arrested during the persecution of Diocletian. Tradition relates that he was dragged from city to city for a year to break his resolve and finally sewn into a sack with vipers and drowned in the sea.

• Terence of Iconium

  Hierarch, Τερέντιος Επίσκοπος Ικονίου

  Saint Terence was bishop of Iconium in Lycaonia. Tradition relates that he was arrested for preaching Christ, endured torture and was beheaded, receiving the crown of martyrdom.

• Niketas of Nisyros

  Martyr, Νικήτας ο Νισύριος

  Saint Niketas was born on the island of Nisyros to a Christian family that had been forced to embrace Islam. Learning of his origins, he fled to Chios, was received back into the Church and lived for a time at the monastery of Nea Moni.

• Anastasia of Serbia

  Holy Woman, Αναστασία της Σερβίας

  Saint Anastasia, in the world Anna, was the wife of the Serbian ruler Stefan Nemanja and the mother of Saint Sava and of Saint Stefan the First-Crowned. After her husband became the monk Symeon she also took monastic vows and lived in prayer until her repose, around 1200.
