  Quadratos the Apostle

  Apostle, Κοδράτος

  St. Quadratus was an apostle of the early Church who preached the Gospel in Athens and in Magnesia, bringing many to the faith of Christ. Tradition associates him with a written defense of the Christians presented to the emperor, one of the earliest apologies for the faith, and he ended his life as a confessor of Christ.

• Jonah the Prophet

  Prophet, Ιωνάς

  The holy Prophet Jonah, son of Amittai, was sent by God to preach repentance to Nineveh. Fleeing his commission by sea, he was cast overboard and swallowed by a great fish, and after three days was delivered to complete his mission, at which the whole city repented in sackcloth.

• Jonah the Sabbaite

  Venerable, Ιωνάς ο Σαβαΐτης

  St. Jonah was a priest of Palestine in the eighth and ninth centuries who, after raising his sons Theophanes and Theodore, the Branded Confessors of the iconoclast period, entered the Lavra of St. Sabbas and lived there in asceticism. He was graced with the gift of healing.

  The holy martyrs Eusebios, Nestabos and Zeno were brothers of Gaza who were seized by a pagan mob in the reign of Julian the Apostate and killed, with their kinsman Nestor. Bousiris, a Christian of the same city, confessed Christ and died of his torments.

  St. Isaakios was a bishop in Cyprus remembered in the Synaxarion for his holy life. He reposed in peace.

  St. Bassa was a Christian woman who confessed Christ in the time of the persecutions and was put to death for the faith.

• Platon Aivazidis

  Hierarch, Πλάτων Αϊβαζίδης

  St. Platon Aivazidis was a Pontic Greek priest and archimandrite of Amisos, the present Samsun, who served the Greek Orthodox of Pontus during the years of persecution. In 1921 he was arrested with other leaders of the community and hanged at Amasya.
