Anastasia the Virgin

Holy Virgin Martyr Anastasia of Rome, who suffered under Decius.

Anastasia was a Roman maiden who lived in a community of virgins and was denounced as a Christian in the persecution of Decius. She endured many torments, refusing to deny Christ.

She was finally beheaded, and a Christian named Cyril, who gave her water in her sufferings, was put to death with her.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Anastasia the Virgin is commemorated on October 12. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on October 25 of the civil calendar.
