Synaxis of the Saints of Athens

Synaxis of all the Saints who shone forth in Athens.

On this day the Church of Athens gathers in one commemoration all the saints of the city, from Dionysios the Areopagite, Hierotheos and Damaris of apostolic times to Philothei and the New Martyrs of the Turkish yoke.

The feast was established by the Church of Greece to honor the local saints of the capital together.

On the New Calendar, Synaxis of the Saints of Athens is commemorated on October 12. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on October 25 of the civil calendar.
