Anna of Novgorod

Venerable Anna of Novgorod, princess, wife of Yaroslav the Wise.

St. Anna was a Swedish princess, Ingigerd, who married Great Prince Yaroslav the Wise of Kiev and raised her many children in Christian piety. In later life she took monastic vows in Novgorod.

She reposed in the eleventh century and is buried in the Cathedral of Holy Wisdom in Novgorod.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Anna of Novgorod is commemorated on February 10. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on February 23 of the civil calendar.
