Saint Anthony the Confessor, Archbishop of Thessaloniki, who suffered for the holy icons.
Saint Anthony was Archbishop of Thessaloniki in the ninth century. During the second period of iconoclasm he confessed the veneration of the holy icons and was persecuted, exiled and mistreated for his stand.
Tradition relates that he returned to his see after the restoration of Orthodoxy and reposed in peace.
