Augusta the Empress

Holy Martyr Augusta the Empress, converted by Saint Catherine.

Saint Augusta was the wife of the emperor Maxentius. Tradition relates that she visited Saint Catherine in prison, was converted by her and confessed Christ before her husband.

She was tortured and beheaded, and is commemorated with the Great Martyr Catherine.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Augusta the Empress is commemorated on November 25. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on December 8 of the civil calendar.
