Auxentios the New Martyr

New Martyr Auxentios of Bella, martyred in Constantinople.

St. Auxentios was born in Bella in Epirus and worked as a furrier in Constantinople. Having once in fear spoken words of denial, he repented and, after preparing himself with the guidance of his confessor, went before the judge, confessed Christ, and was beheaded in 1720.

He is commemorated on January 25.

On the New Calendar, Auxentios the New Martyr is commemorated on January 25. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on February 7 of the civil calendar.
