Companions of Sebastian

Holy Martyrs Nikostratos, Zoe, Tranquillinus, Marcia, Castorius, Claudius, Tiburtius, Castulus, Marcellinus and Mark, who suffered with Saint Sebastian.

These holy martyrs were companions of St. Sebastian at Rome in the persecution of Diocletian. Many of them, including the prison-keeper Nikostratos and his wife Zoe, came to faith through Sebastian's preaching and the healing of Zoe, who had been mute. They confessed Christ and were put to death in various ways, sharing the martyr's crown.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Companions of Sebastian is commemorated on December 18. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on December 31 of the civil calendar.
