Venerable Cosmas of Yakhrom, founder of the Dormition Monastery.
St. Cosmas was the servant of a boyar whom he nursed through a long illness. Tradition relates that at the river Yakhrom an icon of the Dormition of the Theotokos appeared to him and healed his master.
He became a monk at the Kiev Caves and later returned to the Yakhrom, where he founded a monastery in honour of the Dormition and reposed in the fifteenth century.
Feast day
On the New Calendar, Cosmas of Yakhrom is commemorated on February 18. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on March 3 (a day earlier in leap years) of the civil calendar.
