Leo and Paregorios of Patara

Holy Martyrs Leo and Paregorios of Patara in Lycia.

Sts. Leo and Paregorios were close friends in Patara of Lycia. Paregorios was arrested first and martyred after many tortures. Leo, weeping at the place of his friend's death, was moved to smash the lamps of a pagan temple and openly confess Christ.

He was dragged over rocks and slain, joining his friend in the crown of martyrdom in the third century.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Leo and Paregorios of Patara is commemorated on February 18. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on March 3 (a day earlier in leap years) of the civil calendar.
