David and Tarichan of Georgia

Holy Child Martyrs David and Tarichan of Georgia, killed by their apostate uncle.

David and Tarichan were young brothers of a noble Georgian family in the seventh century whose uncle, having embraced Islam, sought to force them to follow him and to seize their inheritance. When they refused to abandon Christ, he killed them.

They are honored by the Georgian Church as child martyrs.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, David and Tarichan of Georgia is commemorated on May 18. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on May 31 of the civil calendar.
