Demetrios of Constantinople

New Martyr Demetrios of Galata.

St. Demetrios was a young Christian of Galata in Constantinople who, tradition relates, was falsely accused of insulting Islam after a quarrel and, refusing to convert, was beheaded in 1784.

He is commemorated on January 27.
