Markiane the Empress

Holy Empress Markiane of Constantinople.

St. Markiane was an empress of Constantinople remembered for her piety and charity, identified by tradition with the wife of the Emperor Justin. The synaxaria record that she reposed in peace after a life of good works.

She is commemorated on January 27.
